Reduced Heart Rate Variability and Mortalit Risk in an Elderly Cohort The Framingham Heart Study

چکیده
Background The prognostic implications of alterations in heart rate variability have not been studied in a large community-based population. Methods and Results The first 2 hours of ambulatory ECG recordings obtained on original subjects of the Framingham Heart Study attending the 18th biennial examination were reprocessed to assess heart rate variability. Subjects with transient or persistent nonsinus rhythm, premature beats >10% of total beats, <1 hour of recording time, processed time <50% of recorded time, and those taking antiarrhythmic medications were excluded. The associations between heart rate variability measures and all-cause mortality during 4 years of follow-up were assessed. There were 736 eligible subjects with a mean age (±SD) of 72±6 years. The following five frequency domain measures and three time domain measures were obtained: very-low-frequency power (0.01 to 0.04 Hz), low-frequency power (0.04 to 0.15 Hz), high-frequency power (0.15 to 0.40 Hz), total power (0.01 to 0.40 Hz), the ratio of low-frequency to high-frequency power, the standard deviation of total normal RR intervals, the percentage of differences between adjacent normal RR intervals that are >50 milliseconds, and the square root of the mean of the squared

Based on psychophysiological research, coherent heart-brain interaction can change afferent cardiac signal pattern sent to the brain. Accordingly, the present study aimed at facilitating the emotion-cognition interaction through HeartMath Institute self-regulated emotional techniques to investigate the efficacy of heart-brain coherence on reading anxiety reduction that significantly enhances at...
متن کاملEffect of Exercise Training on Heart Rate Variability in Patients with Heart Failure After Percutaneous Coronary Intervention
Background: This study aims to evaluate the effect of exercise training on heart rate variability (HRV) and to determine the correlation between parameters of HRV and the ejection fraction in patients with heart failure after percutaneous coronary intervention.Material and Methods: Fifty patients with left ventricular ejection fraction ≤ 40% undergone percutaneous coronary intervention were r...
متن کاملComparison of the effect of aerobic exercise in water with two different temperatures with outside water environment on the index of very low frequency waves of heart rate variability in active young men
Introduction and purpose: Cardiac response to body core temperature variation measured with the very low-frequency parameter of heart rate variability. The aim of this study was to investigate the variability of very low frequency due to different temperatures of aerobic training in water and dry. Materials and methods: 40 academic active male were selected as research subjects. Then, all subje...
متن کاملThe Effects of Heart Rate Variability on Reading Performance among Iranian EFL Learners
Psychophysiological studies and MRI neuro-imaging findings provide evidence that heart rate variability (HRV) which is in control of our emotions affects our brain cognitive centers. It has been shown that coherent heart-brain interaction can change the pattern of the afferent cardiac input that is sent to the brain. For this purpose, the Institute of HeartMath (IHM) has proposed a kind of biof...
